CMC NCCP Community Coaches

Darcy Brown - 2010/2011

My involvement with triathlon has been very short, and started as little more than a bid to stay healthy.  In fact in the beginning I never had any intention of racing.  It didn't take long for me to get addicted to the sport and my interest has been steadily increasing ever since.  My background (from way back) is lifeguarding and cross-country running.  I plan to expand my frame of reference through continued racing and ongoing attendance at workshops and clinics.  Triathlon has sparked such a positive change both in my life and lifestyle that it seems helping other people to get as much out of it as me is just a logical progression.

Chris Day - 2010/2011
Started Triathlons back in 2003 in the city of Brampton as the co-founder of FMCT and have had the opportunity to meet so many excellent people that I can call my friends.   Moved to Cambridge and met Darcy Brown and we swaped stories about our experiences and well here we are in 2010 I have received my NCCP.  I am fortunate to be able to share my knowledge of the sport with the community of Cambridge.

Bryan Peters - 2011
I come from a running background so triathlon is fairly new to me with 3 years of racing under my belt.  I got into the sport due to nagging running injuries; using swimming and biking as cross-training during that time of recovery.  Well it didn't take long and I was hooked.  I'm one of those guys who's fascinated by all things technical and triathlon has expanded my understanding of the most amazing machine - The Human Body.  I love reading about the sport and have learned a ton from talking with others about how they approach Triathlon.  I recently took the NCCP community coaching courses to learn even more on the subject.  If you want to talk training strategies and theory I'm always up for a fun chat.

Richard Merteens - 2011
My involvement with triathlon has been very short (did four races in 2010 and five in 2011), as a way to get back into running, biking and swimming and to stay healthy – golfing wasn’t doing it for me anymore.  I received my NCCP community coach certification in 2010.  My background is competitive swimming and biking (had three bikes through university).  I plan to expand my knowledge through racing, networking, internet reviews and workshops.  Triathlon has been great – a change in lifestyle and a way to help and interact with others.

Just like Bryan, if you want to talk training strategies (especially beginners), I am always up for a chat (you can often see me at the Cambridge YMCA in the mornings). Looking forward to sharing triathlon knowledge and strategies with the Cambridge community.
